Ordering Supplies

User group: Staff, Project Group, Repairman

Location: Office, Meeting/Conference Room [1], Shared Laboratory, Library, Coffee Room/Kitchen, Storage Area, Lounge, Printer/Photocopier/FAX Room

Scenarios

  1. You're in a meeting, about to fall asleep, so you decide to grab a quick cup of tea. To your consternation, there are no Peppermint Pinch teabags left. You use the PALplate hanging above the coffee table to enter a request for more of your favorite tea beverage.

Interface

. .
. .

You can view a list of supplies organized by topic, alphabetically, and mark ones which are low or out. You can also specify a priority (eg for AV supplies, which must be dealt with in time for the meeting you need them for). Low priority supplies are collected each day and forwarded to the staff-person in charge of the room. High priority supplies are forwarded immediately. To request a supply not on any list, you can use the voting system (do we want to add support for that here to?).

Issues

Privacy

Do we want to allow people to find out who is in charge of the room? Probably. That way they can also go in person if they want.

Hardware

???

Software

Database of people responsible for each room. Database of supplies that might be needed in each room.

Network

The application needs to have access to some sort of SMTP daemon in order to send email to the staff person about supply requests.
