NBAVis is a visualization for exploring player and team data from recent NBA seasons. The application uses a dynamic scatterplot visualization in which you can choose the team shown, the types of data to place on the two different axes, and the data to be represented by color. Below the scatterplot view is a summary of the team's games for the year, showing whether they won or lost and by how much.
The system is interactive so that you can move your mouse cursor over a point in the scatterplot to learn more about it, for instance, which player and game it represents. You also can click on a mark within the scatterplot or on one of the players pictures to the right to inquire more about each.
When a specific team is selected in the top left menu, then all of the scatterplot marks so all of that team's player performances from each game of the season. When the item "All Teams" is selected from that menu, then the marks in the scatterplot represent a team in a particular game.
An extensive set of data from each game can be shown, including minutes played, field goal attempts, made and percentages, 3-point field goal attempts, made and percentages, free throws made, attempted and percenatages, offensive and defensive rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers, personal fouls, and points.
Fengbo Li designed and built this application. Yu Fu updated it to include recent season data.
