HoopInSight is an interactive visualization system tailored for the in-depth analysis and comparison of shooting performances by NBA players and teams. Using the system, you can compare two different players/teams or one player/team across seasons. The interface consists of three columns -- two Selection Views flanking a central Comparision View. The Selection Views enable users to handpick players, teams, or opponents, facilitating the creation of diverse comparison scenarios (e.g., when certain players are on/off the court). The Comparison View then illustrates the differences between the two chosen entities with respect to shooting frequency and efficiency. Specifically, the upper sub-view highlights the locations where a player/team takes more shots, while the lower sub-view shows areas where they take fewer shots. The system also offers a range of interactive features to enhance and facilitate detailed analysis, as detailed in the paper.
