Tasks
Our plan is to research
the question how does the facebook affect students relationships and
perceptions of teachers. We plan to
use a sampling selection of students in 1000 level classes whose professors
are on facebook. We will make a survey to see the students overall
perception of the professor, and then at the very end, so as not to bias the
response, ask if the student is on facebook and if they are friends with the
professor on the facebook. We plan to do this by going into the student’s
particular class and handing out a short paper survey. If we do not collect
enough people who are friends with the professor, then we will strategically
recruit people who are friends with professors on facebook and send them the
same survey electronically. We will look to see the differences of opinion
on the people who are facebook friends and people who are not facebook
friends. We will then see if there is a statistically significant difference
between them and draw our conclusions from that. Also we may further
question through interviews some students and professors about why they
joined facebook, why they are friends, and what purpose they think it
serves.
