Ubiquitous Computing
My Senior Research Project in Ubiquitous Computing, deals with computing that exists everywhere the user is and goes everywhere the user goes. As the computer is finally starting to communicate with the rest of the world (or the Internet) via wireless means, a whole slew of useful applications are starting to be realized. Most attempts at defining Ubiquitous Computing and Ubiquitous Computing applications have focused on what will be around a long time from now. You can visit other sites to see what they have to say. I decided to focus on some possible applications that can be accomplished in the near term. For my Senior Research project, I will present ubiquitous computing applications that focus on the use of 1-way pagers, and 2-way devices I call PDA/Phones (the merging of the PDA with the digital Cellular phones). Some of these applications will be implemented and available for use here using Java Servlets. In these web pages, I will also provide some other examples of useful wireless applications and services using PCs.
