Gregory
P.S. Someone forward this to the GVU student list as well. I
can't seem to locate what the exact e-mail address is and
I have guessed incorrectly too many times now.

for graduate students interested in human/computer interaction. The
internship program term is 3-4 months, starting in January, June, or
September, and offers competitive salary, benefits, and travel expense
reimbursement. For more information about Microsoft's internship program in
general, visit http://www.microsoft.com/college/
Interns will work with our usability engineers on applied problems,
research in HCI design, and usability evaluation. We apply user-centered
design and usability engineering methods on a range of software solutions
for the home and office, ranging from operating systems, programming tools
and client/server systems to game, multimedia, and Internet content
products. You will assist in analyzing customer needs, conducting product
comparisons, building user interface prototypes, conducting usability
studies, or performing research on interface issues. While we attempt to
match your assignments with your interests, our goal is to provide you with
the experience of working in a fast-paced, applied research and design
setting.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited Masters or
Ph.D. degree program in Computer Science, Psychology, Industrial
Engineering, or related discipline, with a primary focus on HCI. Courses in
ethnography, human factors, cognition, software engineering, visual
interaction design, technical communication, and developmental psychology
are applicable. Applicants must have thorough knowledge of HCI research and
design guidelines as well as research design and statistics. Creative
energy, initiative, teamwork skills, and excellent written and oral
communication skills are essential. U.S. citizenship or visa status that
permits work in the U.S. is required.
TO APPLY: Send your resume, a brief statement of your objectives in
applying a Microsoft internship to your educational goals, letter of
recommendation from your graduate advisor, and a copy of your current
graduate transcript. Apply by April 1 for a prospective June start date, by
