Gregory has identified the people on this list as people he'd like
to accomodate in the move. The department hasn't given any indication that
there will be space for anyone other than faculty and PhD students, although
we're being given a lot of space over in the CRB which should allow us to
accommodate Master's students and undergrad projects as well. Gregory wants
to take your ideas into consideration for designing and choosing space over
in the CRB, if you wish to move. No one is forcing anyone to move - it is
totally voluntary. The bottom line is Gregory does not want to lose contact
with the people he collaborates with, so if he can provide space to the people
who want it, he will. We're not too sure when the move will occur, but best
estimates put it around summer time.
The lab space we are getting will most likely be shared between
the Virtual Environments group, Visualization, Cognitive Science, AI, and
FCE. The lab space is comparable to the GVU lab, so there should be enough
space for everyone.
So, we would like to get your feelings about the move, if you want to
move and if so, what facilities in the CRB you'd like to have. If you can
fill out the short "questionnaire" below ASAP and send it back to me, I'd
really appreciate it. Other research groups are currently doing the same thing,
and if we want an equal say in how the CRB space will be designed and used, we
have to be prepared, hence the questionnaire.
1) your name
2) position (undergrad, Masters, PhD, faculty, ???)
3) current office location, size (approx), and how many people you
share it with
4) current research projects
5) all equipment you currently use for research and classes
6) all other equipment you've needed in the past or would like to
have in the future
7) what would an ideal lab environment be for you? (please be realistic)
8) what would an ideal office space be for you? (please be realistic)
I'd like to get as many responses by the weekend, so I can come up
with a summary by Monday. Thanks,
Anind.
