Thursday night hackfests starting up again!

Members of the COC faculty would like to encourage student participation in research and general hacking activity by running weekly hackfests. Faculty will hang out in the new high tech classroom COC 102 Thursday evenings from 7-9 starting April 10. Chris Atkeson will be supporting student projects in home automation, robotics, and machine learning. Gregory Abowd will be supporting student projects in Java and future computing environments. Everyone is invited to come, either with a project they would like to do or to find out about projects they could get involved in. For example, Chris Atkeson is looking for someone to hack a Pilot PDA (Personal Digital Assistant, see http://www.usrobotics.com/palm/500.html) so we can program it from UNIX. Projects in future computing are described in http://www.cc.gatech.edu/fce. Other projects include voice, face, and handwriting recognition.
