Robotics Initiative at Georgia Tech
General information

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a new
Robotics Initiative at Georgia Tech! Funded as a Focused Research Program in Robotics initially for one year (Summer '03-Summer '04), this initiative seeks to bring together and create new opportunities for the growing robotics community at Georgia Tech.

The primary objectives of this initiative can be summarized as follows:

  1. Coordinate educational activities across departmental boundaries;
  2. Increase national visibility of robotics research and education at Georgia Tech;
  3. Increase funding opportunities for GT robotics faculty by fostering multidisciplinary collaboration.

Means To Achieve the Objectives:

  1. Implement Multidisciplinary Robotics Certificate at the Graduate Level
  2. Increase GT's Presence at International Robotics Competitions (RoboCup, Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition)
  3. Host Series of Workshops for Robotics Faculty and Researchers at Georgia Tech (one each in Fall '03, Spring '04).

In November 2003, we had a succesful kick-off event, a one-day workshop. Follow the link to find pictures and presentations.

In May 2004 we will have the second workshop, focused on collaboratiove research, at Stone Mountain.

Last but not least, we want YOU to help us shape this initiative and to make it a success. If you have any suggestions, ideas, comments, please contact us ASAP.

Best regards,

The Coordinators:
