The flowers today are placed in memory of members of the George and Willie Louise Kimble Windham family:
The first documented Kimbles from whom we descended are in Georgia by the 1840s. John H. Kimble and his wife, Barthenia Golden Kimble lived in Talbot County for awhile before coming to Taylor County. John was born in North Carolina and is wife was born also there. When John was born and when he died is unknown. Barthenia was born in 1814, died in 1895 and is buried at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Among their children was William D. who settled in Taylor County and married Elizabeth Mianda Sallas who was from Alabama. William was a Confederate soldier and served with Company D Battalion from Taylor County. He was wounded in battle. His company surrendered in 1865 at Greensboro, N.C.
He and Mitt were married in 1869 in Lee County, Ala.. He worked as a carpenter. They had 5 children, James Frank, Lizzie, Mamie, Willie Louise and Susie.
William D. was born in 1845 and died in 1917. Mitt was born in 1846 and a died in 1924. So far little is known about her family. Both are buried at Mt. Olive.
Frank married Mary Carr in 1893. They had one child, Mary Ruth. Lizzie Married Walter Hudson and they lived in Fla.. They had three children, Frank, Remus and Romus. Little is known about them.
Mamie married J.E. Oliver and lived near Ashburn, Ga.. They had six children, Andrew, Drane, Frank, Georgie, Ethel and Tommie.
Willie Louise married George L. Windham and they had eight children, Eunice, Jack, J.W., Luttie, Jake, Eva, Leonard and Donald. They lived at Potterville.
Susie married Malcolm Poole. They also lived at Potterville and they had ten children, Clovis, Marvin, Tom, Malcom, Elizabeth, Susie, William, Hudson, Charnie Pearl, and Edmon.
The only living grandchildren of W.D. and Mitt are J.W. and Jake Windham and Edmond Poole and Charnie Pearl Swafford.
