My contributions to my community haven't begun yet, but I have vowed to myself that giving back will be a top priority.  I had to realize that before I could go around helping others, I needed to make sure that my life was together.  Therefore, I have made the biggest difference by discovering who I am as I have blossomed into womanhood.

My philosophy on life is that you should take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way.  Every opportunity should also be given its proper respects.  Spiritual opportunities are the best because they complete you spiritually and physically.  Personal oppotunities give you a shoulder to lean on.   Educational and career opportunities give you the means to survive in world that is constantly trying to tear you down.  Over the years, I have found that putting God at the head of my life brings me pure happiness and satisfaction with myself.  My family and friends have supported me when my feelings were hurt, when I felt I couldn't deal with life anymore, and even when I was financially dependent.  Being in college on full scholarship is providing me with a stable foundation to live my life without worrying about where my next paycheck is coming from.  The way I see it, I have been provided with everything I need to lead a succesful life.  The only thing left is how I use these invaluable opportunites.  It is up to me whether I succeed or not.  No matter the outcome, I can never say I didn't have the opportunity....

"The Girl In The Glass "

"When you get what you want in the struggle of life
And the world makes you queen for a day...
Go to the mirror and take a look at yourself
And see what that girl has to say.

It isn't your mother, father or husband
Whose judgement on you must pass.
The person whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the girl staring back from the glass.

You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum
And think you are a wonderful girl.
But the girl in the glass says you are a bum
If you can't look her straight in the eye.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on your back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you've cheated the girl in the glass."
