Hello, thanks for visiting my page. Here is a little information about me:

Robbie Ke Yundra Barnes

PERSONAL INFO:

I am a 20 yr. old Junior at Alcorn State University majoring in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. The "Academic Resort" (a.k.a. the "Reservation") is a historically black university located in Lorman, Ms. While attending ASU, I have been a President's Scholar and, I have been on the Dean's List. I am an active member of MAMP (Mississippi Alliance for Minority Participation) and the Computer Science and Mathematics Club. I live in Utica, MS and, I am the second of three girls born unto Betty Barnes and Robert Barnes. I have two sisters, Felicia (23) and Erica (15), and a niece, Ariel (3).

FYI: I just got into college basketball (outside of the SWAC (SouthWest Atheletic Conference)) this past spring. I don't have a favorite team just yet.

HERE AT GA TECH:

I am here at Georgia Tech for the College of Computing's Summer Intern Program. I applied for this program because I want to broaden my experience in the Computer Science field. I felt that this program would give me some incite on what career I may want to pursue once I recieve my degree, and I also felt that it would help me to decide on whether or not I would like to attend graduate school.

Now that I am here, I am currently working in Computer Graphics with Gregory Turk and F.S. Nooruddin. They are currently researching Geometry Manipulation. In their research, they have no way of viewing 3D object descriptions directly so they have to convert their own representation to another format before displaying the models. My job is to revise a program which will enable a user to examine a 3D object directly in his or her own format, without having to convert to another representation. I must learn about polygon descriptions of 3D models, C++, Inventor Mentor, and many more things in order to complete that task. I will also surf the Web and look for 3D models that would potentiallybe useful for future research projects.
