NEW HIRES
Linda Dillon |
In accordance with Georgia Tech policy requiring proof of
employment eligibility, all new employees to the College must
report to the Office of Human resources on the first day of employment
with required documentation (social security card and visa status)
to complete an I-9 form and be set up for orientation. Payroll
forms will be held by Personnel until the proper documentation
is completed.
Employees must go to the Parking office to obtain the proper
parking permit if on-campus parking is their option. Also, identification
cards are produced in the Buzzcard Center located in the Bookstore
Mall.

GRADUATE TA/RA HIRING
Cathy Beam |
Graduate students are appointed as GTA's or GRA's and these
appointments may be revised at the beginning of each semester.
Faculty who wish to support graduate students as GRA's should
send e-mail to hire@cc
prior to the payroll deadlines as announced each semester. This
will be confirmed back to the faculty in an e-mail message. Students
should receive confirmation of their appointments prior to the
start of each semester.
GTAs and GRAs must be full-time students, which means enrollment
for 12 credit hours. Three of those hours can be audit hours.
In addition to the 12 hours, students should register for CS
8997 or 8998 hours, as appropriate.
GTA assignments are based on course loads and enrollment.
These assignments will be made by the Assistant Dean of Student
Services, Kurt Eiselt. Faculty may make specific requests in
advance of the semester. Standard GTA/GRA appointments:

POST-DOC HIRING
Linda Dillon |
Faculty may hire post-doctoral fellows if funding
is available through current research awards, and with approval
of the Dean. Post-docs will receive office space, computer equipment
and local phone service, all shared. Limited secretarial support
may be made available. |
RESEARCH
SCIENTISTS
Linda Dillon |
Research Scientist may be hired if funding is
available through current research awards, and with approval
of the Dean. All research positions must be posted in the University
Systems Applicant Clearinghouse for thirty days before an official
offer of employment can be made. |
STAFF
Linda Dillon |
A shared faculty support staff member is assigned
to all faculty to perform basic secretarial support - all aspects
of travel, classroom support, support in editorial work, slide
production, etc. Normally 20% of support staff salaries are paid
by the College, with the remaining salary being paid from grant
monies. Should faculty be able to support a staff members salary
in full, shared responsibilities will be removed from them and
re-assigned. This would need to be coordinated through Eric
Trevena and approved by the Dean's Office. |
TECH TEMPS
Linda Dillon |
Temporary employees working 50% time or more shall be employed
for no longer than six calendar months. An extension for an additional
six months can be requested in writing prior to the original
six month employment date. Approval must be obtained from either
the Assoc. V- P for Human Resources or a designated representative.
If approval is not received from OHR to proceed into the second
six month period, the Tech Temp will be terminated.
Once an individual has been approved for an additional six
month period, the Tech Temp cannot exceed a total of twelve consecutive
months of employment. Upon reaching the consecutive twelve month
period, the Tech Temp is ineligible for re-employment as a "temporary"
employee until a period of (30) calendar days has passed.

PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS
Linda Dillon |
Each year, the College hires a number of individuals outside
the academic faculty as part-time instructors.
- Amounts to be paid will be agreed upon in writing before
the start of each semester, and once agreed upon will remain
in force for that semester except in case of severe financial
constraints.
- Compensation for one regular course (three or four credit
hours) shall be equivalent to one month's pay for research faculty
engaged for instruction.
- Salary adjustments may be made based on level of class, class
size, expertise required, and experience of the instructor, among
other factors.
