The
IRIS Explorer Centers have now been in operation for just over four years,
providing software distribution and support to the wide community of IRIS
Explorer users all over the world. Users have learnt to turn to one of
the three Centers in the UK,
USA or Japan
as 'one-stop shops' for information about working with this popular visualisation
system. Recently, two significant developments have taken place, which
will further enhance the service offered by the Centers to users.
The IRIS Explorer Center (North America) has been reorganised to focus still further on the requirements of their important customer base. Staff at the Center include Tony Nilles, Dan Durkin and Mike Modica on the Sales and Marketing side, and Phil Harnden on Technical Support and Consultancy. The IECNA is currently working on a number of exciting initiatives in the areas of support, training and consultancy services for IRIS Explorer, together with special pricing offers, which are already generating a great deal of interest. There'll be more from the IECNA in the next issue of Render.
An IRIS Explorer Center
of Excellence is being established at the University
of Leeds in the UK. The Center, which is directed by Dr
Ken Brodlie of the School of Computer Studies, is a joint initiative
between the School of Computer Studies and NAG Ltd. It will provide a focus
for research and development linked to IRIS Explorer, as well as user focused
activity such as the provision of on-line training materials for IRIS Explorer
and a repository of user-contributed modules which are available for general
use. Again, watch out for more news from the IRIS Explorer Center of Excellence
in the next issue of Render. Until then, do visit its website at http://www.scs.leeds.ac.uk/iecoe/
