Virtualization

Virtualization is changing the way that people look at computing. Multiple operating systems can be consolidated onto a single piece of hardware, while benefiting from a more flexible execution environment. These changes are creating new opportunities for security researchers. My research focuses on how to use virtualization to improve overall systems security. Working with technologies such as Xen and Linux, I build prototype software to demonstrate new security architectures and security services that benefit from virtualization. These architectures and services address problems in malware detection, digital forensics, attack response, and systems management. While working on this project, you will have the opportunity to learn about state of the art security technology, virtualization, and operating systems. In addition there will be opportunities to contribute to open source software projects and be involved with research published in top conferences.
