Notifying government, companies, and people of your address change
Address Change Notification
Contributed by David Buttler, Jose Zagal, Manas Tungare
Lots of people need to know when you change address. Obvious groups include those that provide you services (e.g. credit cards, cell phone, phone company).
Probably the most important notification should go to the post office. They will redirect your mail for one year. And they put a nice yellow sticker on all redirected mail so that you know who doesn't know about your address change yet, allowing you to send address change notifications on a lazy basis. They have a very nice Change of Address Form that you can fill out and mail to them, or you can go online and see all the cool services the US Post Office will do for you.
Other important peole to notify:
Insurance (Car, health, etc.)
SEVIS (if you'rea foreign student) (there is no longer need to send the update to the Justice Department...)
Payroll Office (if you get a check sent in the mail as opposed to direct
deposit)
