The demonstration system showcases three different applications of
CQ technology:
- Bibliographic information server.
- Structured data update monitor.
- Current weather watch.
-
In the Bibliographic information server, the user connects to the CQ
server through the Internet, and can:
- install continual queries to monitor updates on selected sources
- register a new source to the system to be monitored for updates
- issue standard queries over the collected bibliographic sources
-
In the Structured data update monitor, the user can install CQ's
over CQ-enabled databases, such as inventory, transportation routes,
airline tickets, etc. The user may also issue standard queries to return just the current information.
The structured data update monitor has capabilities for both time-based
and content-based triggering.
-
In the current weather watch, the user can select any location in the United States, and install a continual query over the weather conditions at that location. The server wraps at least one data service, NOAA, that is constantly updated with data from the real world.
In each of the applications,
whenever one of the data sources change,
and the trigger condition is met, the user is emailed a notification
that there has been a change, as well as a pointer to
a list of changes since the last trigger event.
