Phillip Ackerman

Phillip Ackerman is a professor in the School of Psychology. He has
a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Virginia,
a master's degree and Ph.D. in quantitative/measurement psychology
from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research
involves several areas of human abilities, knowledge and learning.
Current projects include research aimed at assessing individual differences
in diverse areas of academic vocational and avocational knowledge
across the adult lifespan; development of software interfaces that
allow for rapid test development and high ease-of-use for knowledge
tests; development of psychomotor tests of dexterity, precision and
spatial processing using touch-sensitive computer monitors; and the
design of a computerized simulation of an Airborne Warning and Control
System operator station for use in evaluating task design, display
design, learning and skilled performance issues. His research is
supported by the National Institute on Aging and the Air Force
Office of Scientific Research.
