Nelson Baker

Nelson
C. Baker, Associate Professor in the School of Civil and
Environmental Engineering, received his M.S. (1985) and Ph.D. (1989) in
Civil Engineering from
Carnegie Mellon University.
His research involves
the utilization of computers to assist engineeri ng analysis and design
processes in educational and professional environments realized through
intelligent learning environments and knowledge-based expert systems
(KBS). Computing technologies such as 3D visualization, multimedia,
databases, and user int erfaces are essential for producing these kinds of
systems. His work is funded by the National Science Foundation
through a National Young Investigator Award, a grant from the
GE Foundation, NASA Langley Research Center and the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station, and others.
