My Undergraduate College Life

The above photo was taken on the top of a hill behind XMU called Wu3 Lao3 Feng1 (meaning 5 old men). It was in the early spring of 1992, some classmates and I climbed to the summit, and suddenly found that all the members of this crew were also in the same Wu3 Shu4 Ban1 (the Physical Education course teaching kongfu). Therefore we posed, and had the photo taken. It's the most classical photo of our class. We named it "Hua2 Shan1 Lun4 Jian4". If you have watched TV series "She4 Diao1 Ying1 Xiong2 Zhuan4" (story of a hero who shot the eagles) produced in Hong Kong, you would know what this name means.
Not clear? Guess which one is me.

This photo was taken by me when we were freshmen. See the uniform and the bald head? We were just taking Jun1 Xun4(military training) then and had all our hair cut.
The backgroud building is Ling2 Yun2 Lou2(building above clouds), the dorm of postgraduates of XMU. Among those buildings farrer on the left is our dorm, Fu2 Rong2 Ba1 (hibiscus 8). Over the white sea there are some small indistinct islands. And Outside the right border of this photo is the famous "Piano Island" -- Gu3 Lang4 Yu3 (islet of drumbeating billows).

It's New Year Eve of 1994. We were facing graduation and held quite a lot of such kind of parties. And what I was doing in this photo was described as "Chewing in the mouth, spooning in the dish, and staring in the pan".
I always offered my wooden table for cooking on , and the reward was -- a black burnt hole on it.

This was on a beach under "Bai2 Shi2 Pao4 Tai2"(White Stone Battery), about 10 kilometers from XMU. It was in May, 1991. We bicycled to the beach and had a great time there. The blue sea, the golden sand, the gentle bleeze, the lovely music ...
Oh my! What a wonderful picnic. I wish that I could TURN BACK THE CLOCK, bring the wheels turn to the start, back to the days ...

We Are The Great Wall.
This photo was taken by our captain. We were having formation drill on the large sports ground of XMU. The military training lasted for 3 weeks. The training was strict and rough. At the beginning it was so painful for us to stand still without a smallest movement (even a cough would cause a punishment of 1 more hours standing at attention under the scorching sun).
But to the closing of the training, we were so improved that it was just a piece of cake to keep a leg lifted like that for half an hour. If I'm not wrong, the sole should be 25 centermeters from the ground.
I cherished those overtired days. It was the first time we got so tired. :-)

My whole class in front of the library of XMU. It was in June 1994, just a week before our graduation ceremony. Those in second row are our teachers, and leaders of the department.
I miss every trivial thing in XMU. The bamboos between the buildings, the stones beside the lake. The more we were starving at lunchtime, the more crowded it was in the dinning hall. The closer to the exams, the harder to find a seat in the reading rooms. Always loved to watch pretty girls, never dared to talk to them 8-) ......
