I don't know if this has been mentioned since I just joined the list, but an
article yesterday in MacWeek (www.macweek.com) disucssed the above player as
well as one from Vosaic (www.vosaic.com) that also does 28.8Kbps playback but
it runs on, well, to quote their page:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vosaic Version 1.0, released 1/17/96, streams video and audio to the
Macintosh Power PC, PC Windows/NT and PC Win95 personal computers and
Linux, Silicon Graphics IRIX and SUN Solaris workstations.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This player is not as advanced as the RealVideo player, but it runs on many
platforms. Also, Vosaic recently came out with a Java-applet-based audio
player (patent pending, so they don't say how they do it, but it worked for
me). Apparently they're British Telecomm-backed.
