Home stuff from cnet news service

Several of us are already doing this, I'm sure, but I've been surprised at
how amazingly cool it is to have a home LAN. For the Olympics Hibernation,
I strung AppleTalk throughout the house (no Mac flames, please). Now the
kids can print pictures downstairs from the bedroom, my wife and I can
pass files around, and we can take advantage of equipment on the other
computers (e.g., do a scan and picture on one computer, put it in a letter
to Grandma on the other computer). I did it mostly because it was easy to
do, but I've been pleasantly surprised at how it has qualitatively improved
our home computing environment.
