Just a reminder that I'll be leading the discussion in today's FCE
meeting. The topic up for discussion is:
how can we extend mail readers and web browsers?

To focus things I'll start with a couple of demos: firstly of some
work that I did at Birmingham University with Nick Drew -

1) the HyperSpace web visualisation system;

and secondly of the work I've started on here at Tech with Anind Dey -

2) the prototype JavaWorks mail reader.

After that, I'd like to get some ideas flowing about how we could
extend these two systems - in particular with reference to the
problems with current email systems outlined in:

Email overload: exploring personal information management of email
Steve Whittaker and Candace Sidner
CHI'96 Proceedings pp 276-283

and with the sort of technology we could employ to solve them like:

Remembrance Agent: A continuously running automated information
retrieval system
