Newton Internet Enabler (NIE) 1.1 is now available for
download from Apple's World of Newton website. The Newton
Internet Enabler now supports PAP & CHAP authentication for
simple configuration and maximum compatibility. Dynamic
login prompting makes it easy to work with SecurID cards.

NIE (the Newton Internet Enabler) is TCP/IP software from
Apple that allows you to connect your Newton device to the
Internet. NIE is enabling technology and requires
application software to fully take advantage of all that
the Internet provides.
We have had a few developers let us know that the Windows
NIE 1.1 packages currently on the website do not install
properly. We are working on fixing the problem, and will
upload fixed packages as soon as possible.
NIE offers:
support for TCP and UDP protocols
over PPP and SLIP
a domain name resolver
a dialer with scripting capability
support for PAP and CHAP authentication
SecurID card support
