o GPS
Marty has been having some problems with acquiring a laptop to use for
the GPS. He will be borrowing Jeff's computer until Friday.
Darrin Bentivegna has also given us C code for parsing the output from
the Garmin GPS (or any GPS for that matter). The Garmin GPS sends out
updated data every two seconds.
A first try at integration will be done, with a demo of it on Friday
if successful.
o Camera
Chris has successfully created a Visual C++ class that can interact with
anything that uses Video for Windows (VFW).
Using the QuickCam, a 640 x 480 x thousands of colors picture (BMP format)
can be taken.
Chris will have the file save to a temporary filename when first taken,
and look into JPG compression.
We may want to start taking pictures of buildings on campus
(actually I just found a site for this:
http://www.gatech.edu/alumni/map.html)
o TIGER/Line
Jeff showed us a demo, which can display roads, zoom in and out, and
pan around.
There seems to be missing data in the TIGER/Line 1992 database. Some
roads do not have a road type specified (e.g. highway, primary road,
secondary, etc). This could present a problem when trying to filter
roads of a certain type.
We may want to verify our map against a real roadmap. Ed will bring in
a map of Fulton County Friday and Sunday.
o Miscellaneous
We are meeting Sunday at 1 in preparation for the presentation Monday.
