Which IR, and such...

I sent a private email to Sue Long recently as to why we don't connect the
Sharp IR units directly to the RS-232 ports of the Newtons, and not worry
about adapting the code. Also, my recent post about which IR and the need
for having a way of having multiple RS-232 ports on a Sun terminal has
managed to generate an 8-output RS-232 card. It looks like we have everything
we need to do away with the TV remotes, and switch to a Sun terminal server
to provide positioning data and communication.

My point is that I think we are trying to take on too many things. This is
my understanding of what we are wanting to do:

1. Clean up the Newton Cyberguide.
2. Complete the Delphi Cyberguide.
3. Do away with TV remotes and use Sharp/internal IR.
4. Provide communication facility to presumably both platforms.

It seems to me that we would have more than enough to do with just one platform.
Any comments?
