Graduate programs in computer science at the University of Utah

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Utah invites applications from highly qualified and motivated students for a limited number of positions in our graduate program. The Department conducts an extremely active and well funded research program, including work in the areas of computer graphics, computer aided geometric design, and computer aided manufacturing; systems, languages, and architectures; computational engineering and science; computer vision and robotics; computer engineering; information retrieval and natural language processing; and VLSI design.

Course offerings benefit from the quality and breadth of our faculty and emphasize a balance of theoretical foundations and practical engineering. Facilities are excellent, with both the normal complement of workstations and specialized equipment ranging from CNC milling machines to custom multi-processor computer systems to a professional quality video laboratory. Our faculty is relatively small compared to most other top computer science departments, facilitating an informal and personalized working environment.

The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, the hub of a large metropolitan area with excellent cultural facilities and unsurpassed opportunities for outdoor recreation only a few minutes drive away.

The deadline for applications is February 1. More information about the Department may be obtained from the Web:

Alternately, information is available via anonymous ftp from ftp.cs.utah.edu (look in the directory grad-info), by sending an email request to info@cs.utah.edu, or by phoning 801-581-8224 and asking to speak with the graduate secretary.
