Regarding the rocks:

They will be rocks that can be handled by one person - maybe 12-18
inch diameter (typical of New England rock walls I imagine). Some may
be a bit larger - plus it is up to the event organizer (Reid) as to 
whether or not they will be stacked into higher configurations.
They will be painted black. We  have ordered 50 rocks total for
the event (don't ask how much it costs to paint, rent, and haul
rocks - it's outrageous...). Hope that helps.
